MY THOUGHTS ON THE BOOK…after reading many romantic blog posts and short stories from Sarav, I have no doubt that his debut book is going to be a romantic read.

Book Review: Love Stories Around Us – An Anthology

This book is a good love dose for romantic hearts!

The Blurb:

World is full of love, and stories related to it…. just close your eyes and you will find too many love stories around us.

Have we wondered how these relationships are made? What connects people around the world? What is it that bind us together?

Love, sentiments and feelings keep us linked to each other, till our feelings are alive, our relationships are alive; our love is alive. No one can teach you this emotion, except life. And with every couple, there is a story. Shades brings you few of the love stories around us.

Excerpt:

“Hey”, he smiled, getting up to greet her.

“I’m sorry I am late”, she said, shrugging. “I just, I got caught up with something.”

“This is the least amount of time I’ve spent waiting for you…I don’t mind…”

“Do you… Do you have the papers?”

“Yeah, I do. I haven’t signed them yet, I just, I have to ask, just once more. I can’t forgive myself if I don’t Neha. Can we really not fix this?” ( The Memories by Shravya Gunipudi)

My Review:

A book that will make you fall in love with love stories and wanting you to read more and more because ”true love stories never have endings”. – Richard Bach

The reader’s heart…

Love Stories Around Us published by Shades Publications comprises of twenty-five love stories, penned by twenty-five different writers, inspired by real life incidents. Some of the stories made me teary-eyed, some made me happy and delighted and a few of them disappointed me. I am going to share my favorite picks which I felt were savior to the title of the book.

1) “But… why it has to be you?” by Saravana Kumar Murugan, is a beautiful and a modern love tale of Irene and Shiv. Irene is sure about her love for him but deep inside she wants an answer, “Why only Shiv?”. So, she decides to leave it on their destiny . Shiv, for whom Irene is breath; his life, goes through every possibility to find her amidst all the odds. The story depicts love across the globe, love beyond fate and love conspired by the destiny. I had a wonderful time reading this fast paced story with some interesting twists. You never fail to amaze me with your stories that conveys, “Love is beautiful, love is life and love is what that keeps us alive”.

2) “Love Beyond Rules” by Ankit Jain, revolves around the two passionate lovers, Ankit and Aashi. They work as a team for a leading company in Mumbai. Ankit falls in love with Aashi and soon the Aashified effect takes a toll on his mind. There comes smart tactics that one should follow to impress a girl and I completely envy your ideas, Ankit. I loved every bit of it. From your first meet, tricks to impress her, win her heart to a cute attempt to make Aashi fall in love with Ankit. Amazing!! It was a page- turner read. You said so much about Aashi and now I am tempting to meet her.

3) “Sunaina” by Barun Bajracharya, is a teenage love tale of Siddhartha and Sunaina. Their story starts with a kiss that Sunaina gave Siddhartha in an unconscious state. That incident erupt intense emotions in Sid and he starts liking Sunaina. But, every time she refuses to be friends with Sid. An incident changes everything for good. Sunaina accepts Sid’s friendship but for love, she choose someone else over Sid. A heart warming love story. Enjoyed it to the core. Siddhartha never lose his hopes on Sunaina. And like a sincere lover he is happy to have Sunaina around him though just as a friend. I liked the use of local terms and chirpy- innocent Sid. His imagination at tender age, it all seemed so real.

4) “Memories” by Shravya Gunipudi, is a sensitive story and quite a general issue in today’s time. Neha and Akhil, the made for each couple suddenly realize that there is nothing more left in their marriage and thus, decide to give divorce. Neha is firm on her decision despite knowing it will make their lives worst. She and her friend, Pallavi when start collecting things from room before the separation, each and everything in that place reminds Neha of the beautiful moments she had shared with Akhil and those promises of love. She is in dilemma but restrict herself to be carried away by his memories. Her ego is break when she find Akhil’s longing to be with her and give their marriage a second chance. It’s ending uplifted my mood.

5) “I Am A Killer” by Akash Srivastav, is a story of two childhood friends who get separated by the time but in hearts their love and friendship remain fresh as ever. Ramesh, a contract killer is quite efficient in his job. This time he has to kill a pretty -innocent looking girl, Sanjana who was travelling to Kolhapur. Sanjana’s husband marries her not for the sake of love but to take away her wealth and thus, he appoint Ramesh to make his way simple and clear. The simplicity on Sanjana’s face and sparkle in her eyes push away Ramesh’s intention. Every time he tried killing but ended up saving her. And, a moment come when they realize they are old childhood friends, separated by the destiny but united by hearts. The backstabbing by her husband was shocking for her but having Ramesh at her side, it didn’t last long. The story ends on a happy and justified note.

6) ”Payal, I Promise You…” by Divya R. Bandodkar,  depicts of a love story where a girl is not sure of commitment in relationship. Payal and Atul love each other passionately and know well, they are pairs made in heaven. The root cause of it is, Payal grow up seeing the hardship and failure in her parents’ marriage. Her father being there never stood to support or even love her , he assaulted his wife. And all this while her mother did her upbringing, playing all the possible roles. The sweetest part of this story was, Atul while listening her sad story types a long text message on his phone, he make promises to fulfill all the values which were missing in Payal’s parents’ marriage and send her the message as soon as she leave the place. The simplicity in the story touched my heart.

What I liked?

The book cover is exceptionally beautiful with pink- orange shade and silhouette of couples. Also, the stories in this book spotlight on various aspects of love, relation and friendship rather all mushy stuffs. It was a fresh read.

What I disliked?

I believe, a good editing adds life even to the dumbest of books. The spelling and grammar mistakes in some of the stories were quite irritating. I am sure a bit of editing will turn out this book into a splendid one.

Why should one read this book?

Some of the stories are breathtakingly beautiful but if I talk about a complete book, it doesn’t stand up to my expectations. And I feel, there is a serious need of working on some of the stories and editing the entire manuscript.

Stars…

To this up and down reading ride, I will give this book a four-star rating.

This book is a perfect read for all the romantic hearts in this world!

The Blurb:

It can be fatal.

This is a story of love, friendship, passion, obsession and sacrifice. A story that seeks to find out the real meaning of love. A story describing the purest form of love.

Neel«»Aditi«»Ranadeep«»Ria«»Neel

Neel is a simple small town middle class boy who comes to a new city for studies. On his very first night in the city, when he saves Ranadeep’s life, he realizes his life is about to change. But he had no idea that it would lead him to a path from where there would be no turning back. Neel eventually meets Aditi, his beautiful, simple and dainty new classmate and there is love at first site. Life for Neel, Aditi and Ranadeep is perfect till the day Ranadeep meets Ria and falls obsessively for her. While Ranadeep is frighteningly obsessive about Ria, the suave Ria has her heart set on Neel. Things begin to get complicated and then suddenly something drastic happens.

Neel is put behind bars on charges of Ria’s murder.
Will Neel be able to convince his innocence to Aditi and Ranadeep?
Will Ranadeep ever be able to forgive Neel for snatching away his love?
How far can Aditi go to save the life of her love from the grips of destiny?
Can there be a love without ownership?
Find out what happens when love has to pay its price.

Excerpt:

That was the first time I saw her. And it was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. For a moment, everything around me blurred. Time seemed to have come to a standstill. There was no music, just her and the roaring silence. Her beautiful, round face was flushed red with energy. Her pink luscious lips seemed to murmur something. She brought her hands to her ears and touched them. Then she raised her eyebrows, crinkled up her nose and made a little pout with her lips. She was gesturing a sorry. It was the cutest expression that I had ever seen. Something fluttered inside my stomach. She crinkled up her nose a little more. That moment, I wished I could just grab her and kiss her. Instead I just smiled. Satisfied that I had forgiven her, she smiled the prettiest smile in the world and there, at that moment, I realized I had lost my heart.

My Review:

Writers starts a book with the prologue, likewise, I wish to start with a disclaimer: I’m neither a book review expert nor an avid reader. I’m an ordinary person married to a sweetest person in the world, Sarav. His obsession towards reading and writing, pushed me to read the book, and write my thoughts on the same. I want to thank Vinit Sir for providing a grand platform to Sarav in the name of “Uff Ye Emotions 2”. 120 Minutes by Sarav is very close to my heart. Thanks again for making us happy.

Soulmates: Love without ownership, is the story of two friends – Neel and Randeep – blossoms on the first day of the college life, when Neel saves Randeep, almost from the deathbed. They are inseparable, like a family, almost. Then a beautiful love blooms between Neel and Aditi – the synonym of love – is the highlight of the book.

Everything between Randeep, Neel and Aditi is perfect till Ria – rich and tough, brought up in a foreign country – enters their life, falls for Neel, and steals Reandeep’s heart obsessively. A Love Triangle starts and becomes a rectangle. Things gets complicated, egos gets clashed, fate gets twisted and turned and everything else gets changed. In the end, the story makes the eyes moist, and portrays the real meaning of love, friendship, passion, obsession and sacrifice.

The positive points of the book are the narrative style of the author, the well-woven plot, the soulful love, the steamy romance, the unexpected murder, the twists and turns, and there are no negative points. It is a must read book. Vinit Sir deserves a five-star rating!

Book Review: And… They Fell In Love! by Vikas Singal

This is a perfect read to get rid of Monday Blues or Frustrating Fridays.

The Blurb:

These are three short stories or rather scenes where two people meet, know each other a bit and then start a journey together. These short stories do not end; they are the beginning of their love life.

Several times, you wonder, why two people meet for the first time and they feel that their soul search has ended. These stories are written for the people who believe in “someone somewhere is made for you.

Excerpt:

Rajveer was, above all else, a man of tradition. That was how he’d been raised by his orthodox parents. And tradition dictated that his parents would arrange his marriage now that he had reached twenty-nine. Everything had been set up for some time, now all there was left to do; was meet with his future bride.

Her name was Priya and, from what his mother had told him, she was supposedly a nice young woman of twenty-five. While he trusted his mother’s judgment, he couldn’t help but have his doubts born from lack of knowledge. Other than a photo he’d been shown and his parents’ approval, he didn’t know anything else about her.

My Review:

After reading a lot of short stories in the recent past, the thought of reviewing a short story book pushed me back foot in picking up this book for reading. And when I did, very soon, the view changed. The characters started living with me, and within 4000 words Vikas Singal managed to impress me. So here is a confession to make. I fell in love with your writing to an extent to ask you: why did you write very little – only three short stories – not at all fair. Next time, write a book of more than 40,000 words as a gift to me.

For sure, the blurb says what is the book about, so I’m not going to add more. Instead I suggest reading the book and enjoying his work.

The negative points are: paragraph alignment, improper formatting, very less stories (only three). I felt that it could have been done better.

To me, Vikas has done a decent job, and I would like to give the book a three-star rating. (For the book, not for the stories… For the stories, I’ll give FIVE STARS).

Book Review: The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

This is surely a love story to end all love stories!

“I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul and to me, this has always been enough…” – Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook!

What a beautiful quote to start the novel! The Notebook is a romantic novel that tells a story of young love. Noah and Allie, live in the author’s words. Being a fan of Mr Sparks writing, this novel is just a splendiferous piece. It’s just un-put-down-able!

I am a keen observer. The first thing I notice is the cover of the book, and it certainly has an amazing cover that of the movie – splendiferous in all ways!

The Blurb:

Set amid the austere beauty of the North Carolina coast, The Notebook begins with the story of Noah Calhoun, a rural Southerner recently returned from the Second World War. Noah is restoring a plantation home to its former glory, and he is haunted by images of the beautiful girl he met fourteen years earlier, a girl he loved like no other. Unable to find her, yet unwilling to forget the summer they spent together, Noah is content to live with only memories…until she unexpectedly returns to his town to see him once again.

Like a puzzle within a puzzle, the story of Noah and Allie is just the beginning. As it unfolds, their tale miraculously becomes something different, with much higher stakes. The result is a deeply moving portrait of love itself, the tender moments and the fundamental changes that affect us all. It is a story of miracles and emotions that will stay with you forever.

My Review:

The Notebook is a story of young love. Noah and Allie, fall for each other one summer, in a most beautiful way, and on one evening they make love to each other in a plantation home that of Noah’s, but then they come from different worlds where their love is forbidden.

Noah, a rural Southerner, joins Gus to fight in Second World War, where Gus passes away. After returning from Second World War, Noah is restoring his plantation home. After a 14-year separation, Allie sees the newspaper ad of a young man (Noah) with a house for sale. She visits him, which surprised Noah and they spend a couple of days together, and the recreated the magic they had between them 14 years ago. Allie decides to leave, as she was engaged to Lon. Standing in the crossroads of life, Allie makes her best choice.

The book is a written in a way that an old man reads The Notebook to a patient who is suffering my Alzheimer’s disease. In a way, the old man tries to defeat the disease by love. Will he succeed? Will Noah and Allie marry?

Read a classic tale of love, love lost and regained after many years, and is a truly romantic story. If you are a person with romantic heart, then this is a must read for you!
