Book Review: Hey Dad! Meet My Mom by Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agrawal

This book is a page-turner and stands out of the box!

The Blurb:

From childhood, the world in which we live, teaches us to bury our ‘bad’ past somewhere deep inside us, so deep, that even we can’t dig it back and after that just move on.

What happens when a 10 year old child, who claims to be your future son, comes to you to help you find a perfect match for his mother? What happens when eventually you start to doubt on his intentions? What happens when a girl starts to turn your dreams into nightmares? What happens when your ‘Future son’ starts to haunt you? What happens when your FUTURE starts to bleed in your PRESENT through your PAST?

‘Hey Dad! Meet My Mom!!!’ is nothing less than a roller coaster ride of comedy, fear, love and don’t forget to expect the unexpected!

What’s in the name, dad? Just answer me, would you like to solve the dilemma of my friend?” He had something crazy in his mind; his mischief was in his smile.

“Okay, tell me.”

“Listen! I have a friend who is currently caught up in a turmoil of problems. Actually he loves his mother but also loves his father equally. So one day, his father told him that, ‘Beta, you should obey what your mother says. Never ever disobey her.’ My friend said, ‘OK’. Another day, his mother repeated the same thing to him. She said, ‘Beta, you should listen to what your father says. Never disobey him.”

“So where’s the problem?” I asked.

“Patience, dad! Why are you always in a hurry?” He took a pause, smiled at me and continued, “So now his father tells him to obey his mother and mother tells him to obey his father. He loves both his parents equally, now whom should he obey? Should he obey his father and start obeying his mother or vice-versa?” So finally his meaningless question was put in front of me.

“I think your ‘friend’ should follow what his father said and start obeying his mother.” I tried to answer the riddle.

“Why the father? Why not his mother?”

“Okay, so tell him to follow his mother’s instructions and obey his father. In both cases, the same thing is happening, right?”

“Think deeper, dad! Show your intellect.”

“Why don’t you tell him to obey both his parents?” I gave up with that.

“You know dad, sometimes in life, we just can’t go for both our opinions; we have to choose one, either we feel good about it or bad.” He said in a serious voice. Rishi was not playing around with me, He was there to tell me something, and he was there to tell me that the time to choose had come.

What I liked?

The book title was intriguing enough to catch my attention. I appreciate both the authors for their hard work in matching up with each other writing style. At no point I felt that the book is written by two authors. Poems in beginning of chapters were like icing on the cake. I liked Roshni’s diary for unexpected twists and surprises. The book has been edited with sheer excellence.

What I disliked?

After revelation of Roshini, Maya was kept out of scene. I felt his best friend should had have been there to support or may be after things were settled down.

Why should one read this book?

This book is a complete page-turner with surprises as its main element. The racy narration and tempting fantasy will welcome you into its world right from the prologue and will keep you hooked till the end. Main characters of the story appear so real and alive to have you moved along with themselves.

To this amazing reading ride full of unexpected surprises with an eye moistening ending, quite justified; I give a five-star rating.
